COLE McDONELL URBAN MIXED-USE
Urban Mixed-Use This project takes advantage of its urban context to offer a type of urban oasis. The half-hidden nature of the courtyard contained within the building's perimeter offers an eye-catching moment for Main Street's pedestrians. The courtyard slopes down into the basement level of the building, and its openness offers a wide range of possibilities, including a space for local artists to display sculptures or for people to enjoy lunch at the provided picnic tables. The windows of the facade are a dynamic consequence of the rectilinear rooms being intersected by a curved facade. Corten steel offers a visual gridded framework for the precast panels that make up the facade's cladding.
Palettes
The building utilizes two distinct material palettes: the "Treehouse" palette, and the "Cave" palette. The treehouse palette is implemented in the communal spaces within the building, such as the meeting rooms and circulation, while the cave palette is applied in the individual offices. This distinction offers different environments depending on the different uses of the space.
